Family Mediation and Divorce:

Whether you’re going through a divorce, separation, difficult break up or looking to discuss co-parenting agreements or schedules, mediation can help! In our session there will be space for all parties to voice their needs and offer solutions. Rather than giving control to a third party, clients will maintain their power to make the decisions that best fit their needs.

Divorce Mediation

I will help facilitate communication around some or all aspects of your divorce with the goal of coming to agreements that best meet all parties' needs.

  • Division of assets and debts

  • Development of parenting schedules

  • Agreements around communication

  • Establishing child/spousal support

Divorce and separation changes living situations, finances, childcare and day to day schedules. By creating space for dialogue and compromise, mediation can help you maintain more control over the changes in your life rather than depending on litigation and court systems to determine outcomes. In most cases, mediation will help parties move through this process faster and save you money when compared to using only lawyers.

In most cases, once a mediated agreement has been reached it can be helpful to have a lawyer help review and submit paperwork although the court system can be navigated without one. Even if you have already hired a lawyer, mediation can still be a good fit.

Co-parenting and Parent Child Schedules

Plans, schedules and the needs of parents and children change over time. Mediation can help find new agreements and solutions that work best for parents and meet the needs of your children. In mediation many caregivers will rework daily/weekly schedules, discuss expectations for pick up and drop off or talk through upcoming holidays/birthdays.

I have experience working directly with youth and caregivers who are in crisis, dealing with stress, mental health issues, or high levels of family conflict. For many caregivers, mediation can be a space to talk through maintaining consistent expectations for your children and ensuring that they are not brought into adult conflicts.

As a mediator who has worked in multiple family support roles, I am able to bring perspective and reflections that help parents define concrete plans that will create stability and consistency for their children and themselves!
